Part One: Insights Drive Innovation in the Wave of the Human Revolution
January 23, 2019Scaling Inclusive Entrepreneurship Globally
January 23, 20192018 was a pivotal year for SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP HANA.
With SAP Analytics Cloud, over the last twelve months, we have released several exciting new augmented analytics capabilities including smart insights, smart discovery, and smart predict. Over the year, we also made a number of announcements, covering topics such as SAP Analytics Cloud’s extended access to more than 150 data sources, our new search to insight feature that helps you get the information you need instantly in natural language, and our expanded embedded capabilities within SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, and SAP Customer Experience.
The momentum also didn’t go unnoticed on the analyst side. SAP Analytics Cloud continued to impress and was named a strong performer in The Forrester New Wave™: Natural Language Generation for Analytics, Q4 2018, for, in our view, its augmented analytics and machine learning capabilities, such as smart insights and smart discovery.
Research company Ventana Research also rated SAP Analytics Cloud as a leader in two of its seven categories in the 2019 Value Index for Analytics and Business Intelligence.
This year, SAP was recognized in the following analyst reports for our analytics solutions:
- IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Enterprise Performance Management Analytic Applications 2018 Vendor Assessment
- Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Financial Planning and Analysis Solutions
- Constellation Shortlist for Cloud-Based BI & Analytics
- Dresner’s Market Study for Advanced and Predictive Analytics
- BARC’s The BI Survey 18, which found that 96 percent of respondents would recommend SAP Analytics Cloud
On the SAP HANA side, the introduction of SAP HANA Data Management Suite, the partnership between SAP and Esri that brought powerful location intelligence to enterprise data and applications, and exciting new capabilities, such as data anonymization, were just some of the highlights of the year.
The in-memory data platform has also shown significant staying power when it comes to being a leader. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems positioned SAP as a Leader for the sixth consecutive year for its completeness of vision and ability to execute.
SAP believes its placement in the Leaders quadrant is a testament to:
- Rapid adoption of SAP HANA in the market with more than 27,000 customers
- SAP HANA product capability expansion and innovations for on premises and in the cloud
- The ability of SAP HANA to combine analytical and transactional processing in the same database
SAP HANA was also selected for the Constellation ShortList for Hybrid- and Cloud-Friendly Relational Database Management Systems. Inclusion on this list is based on client inquiries, partner conversations, customer references, vendor selection projects, market share, and internal research.
Last but definitely not least, SAP was also recognized as a 2018 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Operational Database Management Systems. According to Gartner, “The Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice is a recognition of vendors in this market by verified end-user professionals, taking into account both the number of reviews and the overall user ratings.” To ensure fair evaluation, Gartner maintains rigorous criteria for recognizing vendors with a high customer satisfaction rate – and this is obviously the most important feedback we could receive.
Looking ahead, the team and I are really excited about the new features, functions, and capabilities we will be introducing across the analytics and data management portfolios over the next twelve months. I’ll be posting more to follow some of these releases, so watch this space for further updates!
