In 2018, TSG Hoffenheim faced Europe’s top clubs for the first time at the highest level of football. Accompanying the club on this spectacular journey was the SAP superfan, a fan who had loyally, passionately, and voluntarily assisted and supported TSG for a number of years.

In a joint decision made in conjunction with the club’s long-standing partner and main sponsor SAP, TSG chose Trudel Bamberger, a very special figure in club’s history from the very beginning. The superfan from Hoffenheim is especially valued for her voluntary work.

Trudel has been a TSG fan since the club played in the lower divisions, witnessing the club’s rise to the top flight as well as the best season in its history, which culminated in qualification for the Champions League. She has been a volunteer at TSG since 2003 and never misses a home or away match. Trudel works as a steward at under-19 and under-23 fixtures and is always full of energy, even when she is sorting out tickets for TSG fans in Liverpool at 4.30 in the morning.

The SAP superfan is one of the most familiar faces at the club, working mostly in the background alongside numerous other helpers. But it is precisely these people who make TSG the club it is. That is why SAP and TSG once again got together to launch a project aimed at recognizing voluntary work in sport. Trudel Bamberger was rewarded as an SAP superfan with an unforgettable trip to Manchester to watch a Champions League match.
