We’re pleased to announce new Skyline Collector 2.7 and Advisor releases with simplified product end point configuration, improved Log Assist messaging, expanded inventory details and new Findings & Recommendations.

We strongly recommend updating your Skyline Collector to take advantage of all the new features, as well as upcoming features in subsequent releases. If you have the Auto Upgrade feature enabled, your Collectors will update automatically. If not, you can download the new version from the Collector user interface.

Bulk Product End Point Configuration

New bulk import and update feature to make it easier to add and configure multiple product end points to Skyline Collectors. We also simplified the Skyline Collector vCenter product configuration process.

Improved Log Assist Messaging

Additional Log Assist messaging was added to make the Log Assist privileges and connectivity revalidation process more user friendly, including last revalidation date and time, and specific details on any failed revalidation attempts.

Expanded Inventory Details

Descriptive names, with links to additional details, have been added for each inventory type on the Inventory tab. Details include version numbers, utilization, configuration and more.

New Findings and Recommendations

We released 38 new proactive Findings and Recommendations in the following categories:

  • Technical Support Trending Issues – Alert you to top issues based on our analysis of common Support Requests opened by customers
  • Technical Support Post Escalation Issues – Alert you to issues based on Post Escalation analysis to help prevent you from experiencing similar escalations
  • VMware Cloud Foundation Design Decisions – Best practice recommendations for all customers and/or VMware Cloud Foundation customers based on the VMware Validated Design
  • Skyline Health for vSphere and vSAN Alignment – Ensure that vSphere and vSAN Findings are available in both Skyline Advisor and Skyline Health for vSphere/vSAN
